Casual Janitorial and Facilities Maintenance – Job Description
Title: Ground & Facilities Crew
Reports To: Ground & Facilities Supervisor

Grounds & Facilities Job Summary
Red River Exhibition Park hosts numerous events throughout the year and we are looking for casual staff to maintain and service our facilities. The position will be on a casual basis with frequent evening and weekend shifts. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a part-time casual position and who enjoys an environment where every day brings new and exciting challenges.
Please note that public transportation is not available to our location. Applicants would need to have access
to reliable transportation to commute to and from work.

Multiple positions available

Primary Responsibilities/Duties:
• Reporting to Site Supervisor
• Keeping facility washrooms up to cleaning standards, this includes leading up to, during and after events take place
• Ensure the event space is clean inside and outside before, during and after the event by removal of garbage in cans and loose items found on the ground
• Ensuring the event space and surrounding areas are always event ready.
• Reporting general maintenance issues to the site supervisor
• Ensuring doors, windows and walls are always clean
• Some event spaces require floor cleaning
• Disposing of waste in accordance with procedures
• Ensure all cleaning materials are labeled and stored correctly
• Work areas and stations are tidy and neatly organized

Qualifications:

• Must be physically capable of performing duties of the position, working
outdoors in all types of weather

• Availability to work days and some evening and weekends as required

• Required to wear issued uniforms and provide own safety footwear, and inclement weather clothing

• Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems Training.

• General knowledge of Workplace Safety

• Experience preferred but not required as we will train suitable candidates

The Red River Exhibition Association is searching for a dedicated and passionate marketing coordinator to join our team. The individual will play a vital role in advancing our Association’s goal to grow into a leading year-round events and tourism destination.

Our ideal candidate brings energy, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic, as well as great writing, content creation, advertising, video and graphic design skills.

Working full-time from our office on Portage Avenue west of the Perimeter Highway, you will work closely with the Marketing Manager, administration and events staff to develop and execute a wide range of marketing strategies and plans for events, including the annual Red River Ex, Witchy Wonderland, Canad Inns Winter Wonderland, The Loop, and dozens of other third-party events held throughout the year.

You will also be involved in some periodic tasks relating to the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame and Red River Exhibition Foundation, which is also managed and operated from our office.

Roles and Responsibilities

As marketing coordinator in a fast-paced workplace, you will play a significant role in elevating our growing marketing team toward continued growth, helping advance the goals of the Association and, ultimately the tourism, entertainment and agriculture industries in Manitoba. Your primary responsibilities as marketing coordinator will include:

– Assisting with marketing strategy and conducting regular reports for social media, website and paid advertising campaigns.

– Writing captivating and error-free copy for websites, social media posts, brochures, our blog, and other assignments.

– Designing marketing materials like signage, social media posts, documents, and brochures with an understanding of event organization an promotional timing.

– Coordinating with and building relationships with radio, TV, and digital media partners.

– Helping conceptualize and execute regular social media posts on our four platforms: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter.

– Assisting with photography, videography and video editing projects.

– Designing and creating high-quality digital ads for Meta and Google Search while taking charge of campaign planning and tracking.

– Researching and documenting major events and promoting them on digital platforms.

– Coordinating other tasks working across multi-disciplinary teams as needed with a positive attitude.

Qualifications

– At least 1-4 years’ experience in a similar marketing or communications role.

– Degree or diploma from a recognized institution in marketing, creative communications, journalism or graphic design.

– Solid and demonstrable experience managing corporate or not-for-profit social media campaigns with extreme attentiveness to detail.

– Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Digital Advertising, and graphic design software.

– Superior English communication skills.

– Must have access to a reliable vehicle.

– Video production and photography skills are a significant asset.

– Experience in events marketing is an asset.

– Willingness to learn and acquire new skills.

As the chosen candidate, you will work a regular Monday – Friday schedule, though you must also be available to work major events, some of which occur on weekends. During the Red River Exhibition in June, all staff are required to have full availability on-site as it is our largest event of the year. We encourage a flexible schedule for the remainder of the year to allow employees to use any banked overtime as well as any allotted vacation time. About the Red River Exhibition Association:

Established in 1952, the Red River Exhibition Association is a non-profit, self-sustaining, volunteer-driven organization with roots as an agricultural society. We manage Red River Exhibition Park, home to more than 200 event days a year, including the annual Red River Ex and Canad Inns Winter Wonderland.

We also oversee all aspects of the Red River Exhibition Foundation, the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame, and the Red River District and Business Park.

The Red River Exhibition Association offers a competitive salary and benefits package for qualified candidates. The salary offered will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications. Intellectual/Social Demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including ability to motivate and inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

Physical Demands:

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, printers, etc.; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via radio/walkie, telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

The duties of this position are performed indoors and outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
