Seasonal Green Team Grounds Maintenance – Job Description
Title: Ground Maintenance (SEASONAL- ending September 30, 2023)
Reports To: Supervisor, Operations

Grounds Maintenance Job Summary
Red River Exhibition Park is seeking a seasonal Green Team Maintenance Crew to join our growing team of
high-spirited individuals. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with landscaping and/or gardening
experience who enjoys an environment where every day brings new and exciting challenges.
Urban/Hometown Green Team Program is funding this opportunity and welcome applicants 15 years of age
and older to apply.
Please note that public transportation is not available to our location. Applicants would need to have access
to reliable transportation to commute to and from work.

Part time (2) and Full Time (4) positions available
Monday – Saturday 8:30am – 4:30pm (schedule may vary during events such as the Red River Exhibition)

Primary Responsibilities/Duties:
• Reporting to Site Supervisor
• Grass cutting and maintenance in larger open spaces
• Controlling the spreading of weeds- priority will be given to projects that are not using chemicals or herbicides
• Planting and maintaining flowers, shrubs, young trees and other greenery on the property
• Operating Machinery or Equipment as they relate to the task being performed (lawnmowers etc.)
• Manual tasks such as general site cleanup and moving displays, fences and fixtures throughout the park.
• Set up and take down of event-related materials i.e.: displays, fences etc.
• Clean and perform preparation of job site materials and equipment.
• Handle and transport job materials to work areas
• Provide assistance to co-workers.
• Complying with all safety requirements of the job.
• All other labour duties as required and assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a landscaping environment will be considered an asset
• General knowledge of Workplace Safety
• Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems Training.
• All certification required for employment will be provided.
• Criminal record check and child abuse registry checks may be required in accordance with Program Guidelines.


Ability:
• Pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Availability to work a variety of shifts, including some weekends or evenings during busy event season.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and co-workers.
• Ability to take and follow instructions.

Carpenter- Job Description
Title: Carpenter
Reports To: Supervisor, Operations


Carpenter Job Summary
Red River Exhibition Park is seeking a Full-Time Carpenter to join our growing team of high-spirited individuals.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with carpentry experience who enjoys an environment where
every day brings new and exciting challenges. We are looking for someone who is capable of performing
duties such as cutting, shaping, and installation of building materials for both new and existing projects has part
of constructing or repairing as we expand our facility.

responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.


Primary Responsibilities/Duties:
• Reporting to Site Supervisor
• Ability to work independently
• Designing, Constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood and wallboard
• Adding fittings and fixtures, including but not limited to door handles, hinges, locks and closures
• Ability to identify appropriate materials and material quantities for new and existing projects
• Smaller carpentry jobs such as fixing or building displays, fences, fixtures throughout the park.
• Set up and take down of event-related materials i.e.: tents, displays, fences etc.
• Clean and perform preparation of job site materials and equipment.
• Handle and transport job materials to work areas.
• Operate hand and power tools.
• Manual tasks such as, snow removal, general site cleanup may be required
• Provide assistance to co-workers.
• Complying with all safety requirements of the job.
• All other labour duties as required and assigned by supervisor.
• Operating Powered Equipment as directed by site Supervisor. (training will be provided if required)


Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a construction related environment as a carpenter
• Ability to demonstrate the quality of work performed in the past.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License (required)
• Self-started with the ability to multi-task.
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment will be considered an asset.
• General knowledge of Workplace Safety
• Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems Training.
• All certification coursed provided must be passed within 6 months of employment.

• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Availability to work a variety of shifts, including some weekends or evenings during busy event season.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and co-workers.

Red River Exhibition Park hosts numerous events throughout the year and we are looking for casual janitorial staff to maintain and service our facilities. The position will be on a casual basis with frequent evening and weekend shifts.

Requirements:

  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, working outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Availability to work days and some evenings and weekends as required.
  • Required to wear issued uniforms and provide own safety footwear, and inclement weather clothing.
  • Experience preferred but not required as we will train suitable candidates
