WELCOME to the 59th annual Red River Exhibition starting Friday, June 18 and concluding Sunday, June 27. The Ex is the largest annual fair in Manitoba, attracting an average of 200,000 visitors over 10 days.
The entire family- focused event is held at Red River Exhibition Park, located on the west side of Winnipeg, Manitoba at 3977 Portage Ave, just west of Highway 1 (Trans Canada) and Highway 100 (Perimeter) intersection.
While many Ex fans are teens and young adults, the Exhibition’s main focus all these years has actually been on families. One of the new, free, family attractions is Prairie Town Adventures. Geared to children under age 10, this area invites participation in a myriad of fun, hands-on activities. For example, in the Prairie Town Farm, kids do chores like gathering eggs, planting veggies and selling products at a Farmers' Market. They dig for dinosaurs in the Fossil Find area, take a Mini-Firefighters Skills Challenge at the Rescue Station, and demolish a wall and do building block projects in the Construction Zone. In the Itty Bitty City, they can rest up in the Nap Time Tent or cool off in the Spray Park.
The Ex also offers ongoing, child-friendly entertainment. On a new, outdoor stage you will find Splash 'N Boots, Dora the Explorer, Doo Doo the Clown, Freddy Fusion and Penelope the Clown.
All of the activities and amenities in the family area are designed for comfort, security and fun.
