Winter Wonderland

Charity

We've donated $131,000 to these charities.

Fire Fighters Burn Fund
The Fire Fighters Burn Fund supports several programs in Manitoba. The Burn Fund's activities touch tens of thousands of children each year with various programs. The burn camp hosts about 40 children each year and helps them deal with the physical and emotional scars or burn injuries. Other burn fund initiatives include prevention programs, fire safety houses and a new interactive CD game which is being launched world-wide to teach children how to escape in the event of a fire. There are about 200 fire departments in Manitoba and about 2500 fire fighters, all of whom participate in the Fire Fighters Burn Fund. In November 2005 the Fire Fighters Burn Fund dedicated a new Fire Safety Centre. Donations from Canad Inns Winter Wonderland helped in the purchase of the new facility.

Torch Run

Torch Run PhotoThe Law Enforcement Torch Run supports Manitoba Special Olympics and athletes. There are currently 1400 people from 49 different communities. The Torch Run involves law enforcement personnel from across the province. The ultimate goal of the Torch Run is to ensure all Manitobans living with a mental disability are provided with the opportunity to share in the benefits of participating in sports and related physical activities. By developing and supporting these programs, Torch Run participants hope to prepare the province's special athletes for active and successful participation in their respective communities.

For the past 15 years, Torch Run volunteers have participated in fund raising programs in Manitoba. One hundred percent of all money raised through corporate donations go to Special Olympics Manitoba. Internationally, the Torch Run encompasses 21 countries and over 50,000 law enforcement officers. The Law
Enforcement Torch Run is the largest worldwide fundraiser for Special Olympics.
