The Red River Exhibition Foundation has been established to support and enhance the community activities of the Red River Exhibition Association. The foundation and its work is the philanthropic arm of the Red River Exhibition Association. It visibly demonstrates to the community our commitment to recognizing, assisting and showcasing the achievements of Manitobans to each other and to the world.
In 1996 the Red River Exhibition Association created a scholarship fund to establish a legacy of the association's commitment to assist individuals in their pursuit of further education.
Recognizing the mission of the Red River Exhibition Association "To enhance the lives of the people of Manitoba by showcasing their talents and achievements to each other and to the world," the foundation presents scholarship awards each year at the Red River Exhibition.
The Manitoba Used Car Dealers Association Scholarship

The first scholarship awarded assists individuals pursuing a career in the trades within the Aerospace industry. With the assistance of donations from the Tourism Industry Association of Winnipeg and the Manitoba Festivals and Events Industry Association, the association presents a scholarship award to an individual following a career in the tourism sector.
A new annual scholarship was inaugurated in 2002. The Farm Family of the Year Scholarship, named in honour of the annual Farm Family of the Year award, was presented to a student enrolled in agriculture studies.
In 2003, the foundation made its initial scholarship award in automotive trades. This new scholarship was started by a donation to the foundation from Sobering Auto Electric Ltd.
The foundation, in partnership with various industry sectors, the business community and other supporters of lifelong learning will continue to announce new scholarships to support the community and assist Manitobans to build for the future. Charitable tax receipts are available.
Showcasing the achievements of Manitoba’s youth comprises a key mandate and commitment of the Red River Exhibition Association. Since its inception in 1952, the association has dedicated energy and resources to promoting and encouraging the young people of our province. In 1997 The Board of Directors of the Red River Exhibition Association created the Red River Exhibition Foundation Inc. with the purpose of awarding scholarships to encourage young Manitobans in their careers through advanced education and training. The board set aside $100,000 from association revenues as seed money to fund these scholarships.
The Aerospace Industry Scholarship honors the memory of Bob Lang, a long serving employee of the association and is awarded to a young person pursuing an apprenticeship position in the aerospace industry.
A contribution of $35,000 from the former Tourism Industry Association of Winnipeg created the Tourism Industry Scholarship for young people pursuing a career in tourism in the diploma programs at St. Boniface College, Red River College or Assiniboine Community College. A further contribution of $4000 from the Manitoba Festivals and Events Industry Association was received in 2001.
The Agriculture and Agri-Food Scholarship was created in 2001, the fiftieth anniversary of the Red River Exhibition Association, to support young people pursuing a degree or diploma in agriculture, agri-food and and related fields. The scholarship recognizes and honours the Farm Family of the Year as selected annually by the association.
A generous gift of $10,000 and supplemental funding by Sobering Auto Electric Ltd. has enabled the foundation to create the Automotive Industry Scholarship to support automotive technical training. In 2003 scholarships were awarded to two students pursuing certification as automotive service technicians and motor vehicle body repair and paint technicians.
The foundation's long term goal is to continue to develop and award scholarships by industry sector consistent with the association's provincial mandate "to promote industry, commerce, agriculture and tourism.
