 The Agriculture and Agri-Food Industry Scholarship will be awarded in the value of $1,000.00
The Red River Exhibition Foundation Inc. is accepting applications for a scholarship which is awarded annually to honor the Farm Family of the Year as selected by the Red River Exhibition Association.
The Agriculture and Agri-Food Industry Scholarship will be awarded in 2006 in honor of the Van Ryssel family (see cover photo of the Van Ryssel family) and their contribution to the vitality and sustainability of agriculture in Manitoba and to recognize their selection as Manitoba's Farm Family of the Year 2005.
The scholarship will be administered by the Red River Exhibition Foundation Inc. and the focus will be on students entering agriculture or related programs.
Criteria:
- A Manitoba resident
- Actively involved in a farming operation
- First year student entering agriculture or a related program of study at a Manitoba University or an accredited College
Applications must contain:
- Proof of Senior 4 or equivalent
- Proof of acceptance to one of the agriculture or related programs
- Letters of reference/recommendation from at least two people (teacher, employer, community leader)
- A resumé, including education, employment and volunteer, community and school activities
- A one page vision-essay describing:
- Your current involvement in a farming operation
- Your interests in the industry
- Why you chose this area of study
- How you plan to be involved in the agriculture industry in the future

You may apply online, by mail, in person, fax, or e-mail by 4:30 p.m., the last Friday in May.

Scholarship Award Ceremony
The scholarship will be awarded on a Monday during the Red River Exhibition Summer Show. The successful applicant will be expected to be present, at the evening ceremony, to accept the scholarship.
