This year’s feature Exhibit will be the Butterfly EXperience. This Exhibit had a very successful run at the 2007 Capitol EX in Edmonton, Alberta, this Exhibit will feature and display 30,000 Butterflies from across the World on display for 10 days at this year’s EX. This unique and colourful display will appeal to ALL AGES. The exhibit will be located in the 112’ x 66’ pavilion located next to Central Park Pavilion and the Volunteer Centre. The Butterflies are displays in a netted structure 40’ x 80 located inside the pavilion, patrons can enter from either the Central Park Pavilion or off Central Park Lane. Patrons can walk around or sit outside the netted structure and look at the Exhibit, those that choose to enter the Butterfly EXperience will be charged $3, but will have a “once in a lifetime” opportunity as Butterflies land all over you as you stand in wonder. This should prove to be a great Exhibit and create a tremendous “Buzz” for 2008. The Butterfly EXperience will be open daily from Park opening until 11:00pm.

The EX is proud to have the Department of National Defense / Canadian Forces as a Feature Exhibit at the 2008 EX. The DND/CF Exhibit will be located on the North Midway at the Entrance to the Equestrian VIP Berm and Shelter with some displays and activities with the Main Equestrian Ring and adjacent areas.
The exhibit will have military vehicles, recruiting vehicle, bands, antique tank and vehicles, various displays and a 105mm Howitzer just liven things up. The DND/CF exhibit will also feature a special day, Saturday, June 21st the DND/CF plan to have a Mini Military Tattoo that would feature marching and bands on display within the Equestrian Ring. The DND/CF will be supplying bands for all 6 On Grounds Parades with reserve bands marching on Saturdays and Sundays and A Dixieland Band from the Air Command Band on a Float both Fridays. The DND/CF has also planned SARTEC Teams drops from C-130 Hercules into the Equestrian Ring during the EX when possible. The Exhibit will be open daily from Park opening until 10:00pm (dusk).
The Heritage Club and Winnipeg Transit are combing forces to display 3 Vintage Transit Buses from 1931 – 2002 and one of the newest addition to the fleet. If anyone is interested in a career as a bus operator Winnipeg Transit staff are on hand to answer questions and take applications. This Exhibit will be located on the North Midway close to both the Westcoast Lumberjack Show and the DND/CF Exhibit Entrance. This Exhibit will be open from Park Opening until 10:00pm.
Ken LaSalle will once again be providing the very popular Petting Zoo attraction located in Barn #1 North of Kiddieland. The Petting Zoo hours will be Park opening until 10:00pm daily.
The Westcoast Lumberjacks will feature Log Rolling, Chopping, Sawing, Climbing Lumberjacks in a fun filled ½ hour show. The Westcoast Lumberjacks will be located in Kiddieland along the North Midway adjacent to the grass area located next to the North Washroom. The Lumberjack show schedule will be 7:00pm & 9:00pm on Weekdays (Mon. – Thur.) and 3:00pm, 5:00pm, 7:00pm & 9:00pm on Weekends (Fri. – Sun.).

Ken LeSalle brings his hilarious Hillbilly Pig Races to the EX. Located in the Monsanto Farm Country Area within the Familyland Midway, the show will feature a Duck Race prior to the Pig Races with the racers named after people we all know. Come cheer on the Celebrity Pigs as they Race for Glory. The Kenjen Celebrity Pig Races will take place at 6:00pm & 8:00pm on Weekdays (Mon. - Thurs.) and 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm & 8:00pm on Weekends (Fri. - Sun.)
The fan favorite IAMS Superdogs will be bringing their high energy display of canine agility back to the EX in 2008. The Superdog show will be changing locations and will now be located in the South Midway just south of the Main Gates. The Superdog arena will have over 1800 seats and will provide a great attraction area prior to entering the main Midway Ride area. The Superdog show schedule will be 5:00pm & 8:00pm on Weekdays (Mon. – Thur.) and 1:00pm, 4:00pm, 7:00pm & 9:00pm on Weekends (Fri. – Sun.).
Freddy Fusion Science Show will be appearing at the EX for the first time in 2008. This attraction features a high energy display of science in a fun, educational and interactive way. The show is self-contained with its own stage and will also feature a hands on Science display throughout the day. The Freddy Fusion Science Show will be located in Central Park Lawn adjacent to the Central Park Pavilion entrance and will be part of the NEW “Family Park” attraction. The Freddy Fusion Science Show schedule will be 6:30pm & 8:30pm on Weekdays (Mon. – Thur.) and 2:30pm, 4:30pm, 6:30pm & 8:30pm on Weekends (Fri. – Sun.).
This attraction is a free interactive hands-on activity and relaxation area for Families and will feature a number of dynamic areas that will create and provide a great Family experience. The area will feature the Freddy Fusion Science Show; YTV Weird on Wheels which features activities, contests and giveaways; Family Park Free Stage which will have daily shows from Doo Doo the Clown at 6:00pm Friday, Saturdays and Sundays and 8:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. The Park will also feature additional afternoon performances by children’s entertainers Smudge Fundaies June 20 – 22 at 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. and Guitar Heroes 2:00pm - 6:00pm June 15. The stage will also feature community performances; PowerSmart activity and Craft tent and Hydro Display; Karoke, Face Painting tent; Rexx & Roxy; Mural Wall and Shade tent where families can paint on a reusable and washable mural or just sit in the shade. This entire area will operate from Park opening until 9:00pm daily.
This year’s on grounds Parade will take place 6 nights (Fri. – Sun.) at 6:30pm. The Mardi Gras parade through the grounds will features Bands, Floats, Clowns and of course Beads.
This pavilion showcases agriculture with the assistance of Manitoba Agriculture Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI) and the Canola Council. This educational and interactive display of Agriculture educates how agriculture links to everyday life and the products we use and consume. The centre is located in Farm Country at the North End on the Kiddieland Midway along the east midway line; the centre will operate from Park opening until 10:00pm daily.
Manitoba Farm Animal Council (MFAC) will once again with the various producer groups present Touch the Farm, a live display of Farm Animal practices, information and educational displays. The area will feature: Dairy; Beef; Hogs; Poultry (layers, roasters) and possibly Sheep for 2008. This attraction is located in farm Country north of Kiddieland next to Barn #1 and will operate from 4:00pm – 9:00pm Weekdays and 1:00pm - 9:00pm Weekends.
The EX will have a Fireworks display on June 13 and June 22 at 11:00pm.
The EX will once again have hand-led pony rides available for a charge in the Warm Up Ring of the Equestrian Facility located within Farm Country area.
