In cooperation with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, this important area not only provides insightful resources for eating and living well but also has two stages to entertain you as well.

Winnipeg in motion has partnered with community organizations to showcase local experts to connect individuals to physical activity programs, facilities and providers in our community. Visit the WRHA GO4health EXpo – Physical Activity area to:

Go4Nutrition Interactive Booth Display
Do you find yourself getting overwhelmed when grocery shopping? What is the healthier option? How do I read those confusing nutrition labels? Come to the Nutrition booth and participate in the Grocery Store Challenge. In this game, visitors will have a chance to answer questions on a card and choose foods from the grocery store shelf. Registered Dietitians will be on hand to answer your questions and help you learn about what is in the foods you are buying by reading and understanding the information on the label.
- foodManitoba: Learn about Manitoba’s local farms and local foods. foodManitoba is comprised of 9 different commodity groups (mushroom, turkey, pork, egg, beef, dairy, canola, pulse and chicken) and promote awareness of local foods and where you can buy and use them.

Looking to learn a new recipe or some tips in the kitchen? Join us everyday and take in a cooking demonstrations put on by various community organizations. All demonstrations include free samples!

Mental health is an important aspect in everyone’s life. The focus this year is on a flourishing positive mental health. Visit the Flourishing Families Tree and learn ways to improve your mental health!
The Flourishing Families Tree is an area where families or individuals can share what they do to enjoy life more – People can write down on a leaf something they do (or would like to try) – tie it on the flourishing tree ,and then receive a family seed pack (courtesy of T & T seeds) as a thank you for sharing wellness ideas. The leaves will be displayed all week for Go 4 Health visitors to explore. There is also a kids craft area if people need a little break from the sun (or rain) – a special time for parents and children to be creative together and relax awhile.
There are simple things we can do each and every day to be more mentally healthy –stop by this area and discover how to flourish in all areas of your life by: focusing on the positives, nurturing your relationships, and taking time to be active and have fun- something the Red River Ex is all about!
Various tobacco reduction support groups will be present to teach you strategies and show you resources to help you stop smoking. Visit pharmacists will be distributing Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). The focus of this area is to heighten awareness of harms of tobacco use and second hand smoke, promote smoke-free lifestyle and environment, and provide supports for people thinking about stopping tobacco use.
- Go Smoke Free Day at The EX: Members of the Tobacco Reduction Team and STAND (Sisler Teens Against Nicotine and Drugs) will be at the Park reminding people to try to go Smoke Free within our children’s area Prairie Town Adventures and encouraging those hoping to stop smoking to check out the NRT giveaway within Go4health.
Together with the Manitoba Dental Association and Manitoba Dental Hygienists Association, the Oral Health team will use fun and innovative ways to educate you and your family on proper oral care. They will take you through the life stages of your teeth and show you what to watch out for!
Support Services to Seniors
Wednesday, June 19 is Seniors Day at the Ex. Numerous senior support organizations from around Winnipeg will be on site to provide information and services for anyone looking for themselves or a family member. Be sure to check out the specialized programming on the two stages as well!

Staff and volunteers from the WRHA Healthy Sexuality and Harm Reduction Team will be on hand to distribute print resources about sexually transmitted infections, various health centres and agencies working with sexual health, as well as information about where to get tested. The staff will be handing out and educating visitors on their safer sex kits.
